Your barn's website
A website that mostly builds itself: pick a theme, turn sections on and off, write a little, and publish to a free barn.page address. Camps, events and the waiting list come live from 1barn.
Where it is and who can use it
Open Website from the menu behind your barn's name (on a phone, it's in More). The owner can always use it; a manager can when the owner has turned on the Settings permission for managers under Settings → Managers.
The website is an add-on. Without it, Website shows a preview of your barn's own site, built from what 1barn already knows, and the owner can try it free for 30 days or add it to the plan from a browser. Nothing is published until you publish.
Start with a draft
- Draft it with Ask 1barn writes a first version from your barn profile, facility, lessons, events and forms, and picks photos. It takes about a minute and counts as one Ask question; the website comes with 25 extra Ask questions a month for website work, used first.
- Tick Let 1barn read our current websiteto have Ask copy your own words and photos from the site you have today, page by page. Only tick it for your barn's own site. 1barn reads at most 40 pages, follows the site's robots.txt, and never reads anything without that tick.
- When it's done, a card says what came from 1barn, what came from your old site, what was left out and what to check. Open the draft to edit it, or try again.
- Or choose Start blank: 1barn still fills in what it knows (events, lessons, forms and contact), and the sections only you can write wait, hidden, for your words.
Sections
A site is a home page plus a page for each section that has one, like /boarding or /lessons. The home page shows each section short, with a link to its page, which shows all of it.
- Turn a section on or off with its switch. A hidden section keeps its words and photos.
- Move sections up and down (on a phone, use the ⋯ button). The home banner always comes first.
- Click a section in the list, or click it in the preview, to edit it. Changes show in the preview as you type and save themselves.
- Add a section for more text and photos, a price list, a gallery or testimonials.
Some sections fill themselves from 1barn. Camps and events is live: it lists your published events in the categories you pick and changes on the site when they change in 1barn, no publishing needed. Lessons links to your waiting-list form, Forms and waivers lists the forms anyone can sign, and Contact uses the address and phone from your barn profile.
Each text box has Rewrite: Ask offers a shorter, friendlier or spell-checked version for you to replace yours with or keep. Each rewrite counts as half a question.
Look
Pick a theme under Look: Prairie, Paddock or Arena. Every theme reads the same sections, so switching never loses anything. The colors, logo and font come from your barn profile, the same ones your booking pages use.
Your barn.page address
- Pick your free address under Details, like yourbarn.barn.page. It's checked as you type.
- Use 3 to 30 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, with no hyphen at the start or end. Some names are kept for 1barn itself.
- Before you first publish, you can change it as often as you like.
- After that, it can change once every 30 days. The old address keeps sending visitors to the new one for 12 months, and no other barn can take it meanwhile.
Publishing
Edits save as you go, but visitors see them only when you publish. Publishlists what changed since last time, then puts the new version up, usually within a minute. Each page gets a title and description for search engines, and the site has a sitemap and a picture for shared links. Set the site's title and description under Details → For search and sharing.
Take the site offline (under Details) replaces it with a short page that says the site is resting, with your phone number. Your draft and address stay; publish again to bring it back.
The contact form
Messages from the site's contact form arrive in Messages → Website, one conversation per visitor, and are emailed to the owner and managers. Reply in Messages and the reply is emailed to the visitor, with you as the reply-to, so their answer comes straight back to you. Spam is filtered out before it reaches you; visitors have nothing to solve.
Client sign-in
Every page has a quiet Sign inlink in its header, phone menu and footer. It opens 1barn's sign-in with your barn chosen, so boarders and riders land in their portal.
Social links and your current website
Add your Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, X or Google Business Profile pages, and the address of the website you have today, under Settings → Barn profile. A handle like @yourbarn is enough for most. The site shows them in its footer and Contact section, and tells search engines they're yours.
Google Analytics and the cookie notice
To use your own Google Analytics, paste your measurement ID (it starts with G-, from Google Analytics → Admin → Data streams) under Details → Google Analytics. Paste the ID, not a script.
Google Analytics uses cookies, so while an ID is set the site shows a small notice with Accept and Decline. Google's tag loads only after a visitor accepts. With no ID, there's no Google code and no notice.
Your own domain, like yourbarn.com, and redirects from your old site's pages are coming soon.
